It has been too long since I’ve written in this space and as the year comes to an end it’s time to change that.
I have been procrastinating for too long but this is good time for me to stop making excuses for not doing something that always brought me so much peace and joy.
There are times life shakes you to the core, forces you to rethink everything you are doing and challenges you to make hard decisions.
That’s what has been happening for me in the last 3 months and I can finally say I’m excited for what’s ahead!
My nearly 5 year journey as staff at BakerRipley came to end on December 7th and the process to that last day was a bit of rollercoaster. Leaving BakeRipley hasn’t been easy because my journey there was life changing and deeply inspiring. It was also hard because of the people I’ve was privileged to get know and work with.
But as people say, change is hard but at times is necessary to grow and gain perspective.
This post isn’t about why I left or where I’m going but mainly a note of gratitude to everyone who impacted my journey.
The people of BakerRipley are what make BakerRipley the powerful organization it is today. It is their passion, commitment, drive and fearlessness that drives the amazing impact this agency has in our great city.
So to the people of BakerRipley, Thank you! Thank you for always inspiring me in so many different ways and in every room you showed up. I learned so much by being in meetings with you, listening to what you had to say, working with you, watching you lead by doing what you do and learning from how you do it. I most admired your compassion, kindness and empathy for others regardless of who they are or where they come from- always!
I’ve learned so much from good and also from the bad and the ugly – because learning comes from many different places, personalities and experiences. I’ve also learned and have been deeply inspired by the neighbors this great agency supports. The neighbors are the fuel that drive the people who work for BakerRipley- their journeys, strengths, talents and aspirations.
I’ve also learned so much about myself, who I am and what I’m capable of. I’ve lost a little of that doubt I’ve always had in my abilities and have become less afraid of my voice. I could go on but I won’t make this longer than it needs to be!
But before closing, I do want to express my deepest gratitude to the support group that I also consider my family- Mila, Kelsey, Fred, and Juan. Thank you for everything you have thought me and for being the amazing humans you are. I’m so thankful to have you in my life and to continue our support groups 😉
These are some photos I captured along the way!
These are the People of BakerRipley… thank you for impacting my journey.
